Abdel Barbosa

Abdel is a Team Lead and M&A Analyst here at Sellside Group, responsible for guiding and developing an effective team of analysts focusing on deal origination, analytical work, and personal outreach. Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas along the US-Mexico border, his approach to his personal and professional life is influenced by his upbringing at the crossroads of international economic and cultural exchange. G

iven his adolescent experience and desire to flock the nest to nourish his understanding of global business and international exchange, he completed studies at the University of Texas at Austin in the Spring of 2023, graduating with two majors in Economics and International Relations/Global Studies. In addition to his degrees, he pursued a semester-long study abroad program in Buenos Aires, Argentina, fulfilled a 30-page Capstone project on economic globalization in Latin America, and was an established member of the UT social and community service organization, Kappa Kappa Dub. His academic career encouraged him from building his professional expertise, as he built his client service pedigree as a Sales Associate at the University Co-op, premier merchandise retailer for the Texas Longhorns, and upskilled his statistical and technical skills through a semester-long Exploratory Data Analytics program following his graduation.

At Sellside Group, Abdel aims to do his part in helping his client’s accomplish their business goals and connecting business leaders together by applying his knowledge of international economics and business, building his investment banking skills, and understanding his client’s place in their industry and the M&A world. In his free time, he is an avid gym-goer, urban explorer, foodie, and cat dad to his son, Piquín.
